Usb tethering with windows xp droid

Initially the problem manifests itself as the XP machine asking for drivers when the Tether option is enabled on the connected phone. The answer to that has been documented PDF archive already -- use tetherxp. It will appear to work up until the end of the driver installation whereupon the New Hardware Wizard will report "The device cannot start.

Code 10 ". The 4 files involved are note that the first two files start with the letter R followed by the letter N -- but with some fonts it looks like a lower case M : rndismp. There are three primary ways to fix this -- which you choose depends upon your particular situation. Note that after each method I give you the version number of the files it will install. The version number doesn't really matter -- they all work -- I just give you the version number so you have a way to see if your system has the expected files if you care.

If you don't have an aversion to installing SP3 this should solve the problem and get you a bunch of other hotfixes in the process.

If you have already done the tetherxp. I have not installed SP3 to test this so that is conjecture based upon my understanding of what's going on here and the other tests I've done. The above gives you version 5. I hunted high and low for a Microsoft hotfix that replaced only the RNDIS drivers and nothing else , was compatible with XP SP2, and that contained drivers which were new enough to support the device. This alone took several hours and I was rewarded for my diligence.

I wanted an official hotfix so people would have the comfort of it being something from Microsoft rather than just "here, put these files in". Unlike some hotfixes, you have to "request" this one by clicking on the "View and request hotfix downloads" link at the top of this page. You provide your email address and you have the hotfix in your inbox in less than a minute. In case Microsoft ever stops giving it out, I have also uploaded the file to RapidShare.

Since it is an EXE I would expect most folks will want to get it directly from MicroSoft so they can be assured of it's integrity. The file is digitally signed, so you can see that it is a genuine Microsoft file, but if you get it directly from them then there no doubt. On both machines I installed this on a reboot was required suggested by the installer at the end. Can't get much more targeted than that. If you've previously done the tetherxp. This option is the method I ultimately used after backing out all of the other test methods that I used up to this point to fix my laptop to be able to tether.

His drivers do work and do solve the problem, but depending upon what you've already done to your machine along the way, the procedure for implementing them must be followed precisely or it will not work. Also he has only created the rndismpx.

Whether or not having a "matched set" is important I do not know. For those who want to go this route, the procedure below should work for you -- it did for me although ultimately I backed it out and went with KB once I found it. Unzip the files somewhere you can find them easily when you need them.

Attach your phone to your computer. I will choose the driver to install. Click Next after choosing the type. Dave December 16, at PM. I'm still having issues with the Honeywell wifi thermostat RTHWF displaying "waiting for update" on when the wifi is routed through my proxy server, so I decided to do a deep dive into what the thermostat is doing when it's getting the weather updates. I also wanted to better understand how to trace traffic on my network.

Here's what I learned about the thermostats weather updates system by tracing the communication between the thermostat and servers. This server appears to run code managed by Honeywell in Microsoft's Azure cloud. Read more. February 02, Is your your Moen single handle kitchen faucet hard to use or leaking around the handle?

If it is you can easily lubricate or replace the cartridge in the faucet. If you're the original owner owner of the faucet Moen warrants them to be leak-free for lifetime.

This whole thread is the solution. Any question is answered right here in the OP. Joined Aug 13, Messages 5 Reaction score 0. I have a problem using tethering with XP SP2.

Any ideas why I'm not able to start this? I tryed and retried with different tetherxp. Since then yesterday I uninstalled this software from both, the phone and from windows. Thought might be a conflict issue Connected my phone etc The problem is the internet on my desktop browser stops working. Like, once the connection is established the PC "thinks" it should acquire the internet connection from the newly recognized network adapter. Please help me with this.

I need to test mobile sites on my phone but my provider bandwidth rates are very expensive Still looking for the solution In the meanwhile I found this page explaining tathering problems and how to solve it.

What is not clear there to me though if the guy is describing how to share the PC's internet connection with the phone or vice versa because I need to share my PC's connection with my phone I asked that there but my comment question was erased like I'm a stupid dumbass and I can't see it is clearly described there It is as the title states about USB tethering which is using your phone basically as a modem to connect your PC to the internet.

It WILL use up your phone's data. If you want to view mobile sites on your phone I suggest you use WiFi on your phone as that will not use your data plan. By the way, why all the fuss then when there is a free software called PDAnet which I already tried and it's working. Install hotfixes, upgrade to SP3, intall usb drivers.
